Hi Everyone
I am producing a catalogue of car alternators and I need each page to have 3 columns thats fine I can do that. However I also want a page header and footer centralised eg name of company tel no page no the usual stuff. When I try to do this the header and footer is restricted to the limits of the first column? Any ideas?

A simple way, if not the best way, would be to put your column information in its own report. Make another report that is your header. The columns could go into that report as a subreport. Like I said, that may not be the best way, but it's the way I would do it.

I have tried this and the sub report comes out disjointed ie on the first page one column is printed in the slot where it should be on the next page the middle column is printed but the data in it is not what it should be ie it is from lower down the report rather than the data that should be in the second column any ideas?

I have one idea about what might cause that problem. Go into your report (the subreport). Then click on file at the top of your screen and go into page setup. Under the columns tag, make sure the button is checked for across then down. You also might check to make sure the margins for your columns are small enough to fit. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Tried that did not work
Had another idea in properties in page header there is a 'on print' section in here I typed print " heading"
and with a bit of practice it centralised. However this just worked on the first page all the others got chopped any ideas?

Set the detail section of the report to the size of paper minus the margins, and place the field(s) for one column in the Detail Section. Enter the Header and Footer data where you want it. If you want Header data for each Column, you'll have to add additonal data for the other two columns that will be printed, using trial and error, you can get them lined up correctly. Select Page SetUp from the File Menu, select Columns, set the number and size for your columns.
ENSURE THAT THE CHECKBOX FOR "SAME AS DETAIL" IS NOT CHECKED.
