Exporting an Access report to Excel results in certain text column data getting translated incorrectly. This happens only on certain records, not all. Example in Access the text defined value "0000006285-010" gets translated to Excal in a column defined as General as "1601864". Another example "0000131840-001" to "-43453".

I have tried to force the Excel defination to text by entering a true text value like "a100" into the Access report, this din't change the Excel defination but it imported that record value correctly.

Thanks in advance! Jim

Have you considered exporting a query to Excel instead of a report? I have never had a problem with data chalnging exporting a query to Excel.

Also, the only time I had a problem exporting to Excel was caused by a textbox not being wide enough... That was Access 97.

Thanks for the suggestion. It appears Access actually exports the query supporting the report limited to the fields referenced on the report. The analysis seems to indicate the translation problem is some how within the report, since exporting the query specifically does not have that same problem. Also, my report was formated with a series (4) of values grouped under one another...like line 1 name and ssn and an amount along with the 1st grouping of a GL breakout (acct, loc, percent, sub amt) then line 2 would repeat the grouping, same line 3 and 4. The exported data in Excel would be a single line with each grouping to the right of the others. So, the reports format was not retained. Still some where that translation was being computed. The field being incorrectly translated was from (stored) a table, not being created/formatted in the query/report.
