Access Report 2007 - Needs User Input

Hi,
I have just upgraded an access 2003 database to 2007 and there is a problem I cannot fathom.
I have a report that when it is run asks the user to input a reference number in a dialog box, simple, and it prints that number on the report. All it needed in 2003 was a text field with a control source [Ref No], and it did the job. But in 2007 it doesnt work and outputs #Error.
This is really doing my head in because I know it must be a simple fix, but if you dont know, you dont know!
