Hi I was advised to repost this in this forum...

I'm using CR XI and CR Server. Database I access is Teradata.

I have a few dozen reports that are scheduled and distrbuted automatically via email. They run at all different times during the week and on the weekend.

I know a notifications area exists in the setup area of a published report. So I can set each report to email me when it fails. But I don't want to set that up for each report.

What I would like to do is create a report that queries the CR database and emails me (once a week) a list of all the reports that failed in the last 7 days.

If this is possible...

1)
Where is the CR database located on my CR server (path)?

2)
Do I need a login and password to it (if so would it be my administrator login and password)?

3)
Are there views to the tables in this database (don't want to query the tables)?

4)
I've been told that accessing the database may not be the big issue - big issue is most of the data is encrypted. Any advice on this issue?

Thanks in advance.

The CR database is likely the MSDE (SQL Server) database, and one connects to SQL Server by name, not a path.

You can download the trial version of SQL Server and if you know the password used for the SA account, you can connect by using the name.

I think that Turk is our resident expert on querying the database, I've written scripts for User/Folder types of things, but not failed instances.

You can use the query mechanism on the launchpad page to pull some information, and there's a admin tool to view failed instances, so you could reverse engineer this I think using that.

Hi,
On the Admin launchpad there is a tool called the Instance Manager that will you can use to show you your scheduled reports' status (you can specify Pending, Failed, Recurring, etc) - Running it once a week or so can keep you informed..( That such a tool exists, means that a query can be constructed using the InfoObject , but I have not looked into that particular one yet..)

Thanks everyone. Will provide feedback once I attempt something but it may be awhile.
