Access Query for Mail Merge

Our mail merge uses an access query as its data source and it had been working fine for a couple of years. Yesterday one of the users said the mail merge stopped working. My research revealed that the mail merge can no longer see the query. It can see the intermediate queries but not the final query and this is true of the other letters we mail merge. None of the final queries show up in the data source list, but the intermediate queries do.

I have tried recreating the query and it still does not show up in the data source window. I even tried setting up a special mail merge database with the mail merge queries and the final queries still do not appear in the data source window.

Any idea why the data source window does not display any of the final queries?
