Hi,

I was just wondering how the rest of this community is making out programming in Access?

Are you busy?
Are you developing new clients?
Have you moved on to a different language? If so, what and why?

I have been on tec-tips for many years and it seems that there are less questions in the Access forums than 2 years ago. Is this because people are now more experienced or is this due to a slow down in MS Access development?

I welcome everyone's thoughts.

A lot of developers being out of work might be a factor in what you are seeing.

The need is sill there with small and medium business, but a lot of them are holding out until things pick back up again...

I'm doing very little new development now with Access and Excel, its mostly implementation of commercial systems and support for existing SQL Server/Access/Excel apps.

Have tried to start trying to learn C#, but not getting very far at all due to lack of time.

There's a guy where I work who graduated in computer science 2 years ago and has been doing office admin type work because he hasn't even been able to get a helpdesk job. So the jobs that do come up its the usual catch 22 - no experience = no job.

Or the other end (especially for college grads). Too much education for the job. A lot of employers who want helpdesk or techies do not want a person who can program the computer, they figure they won't last very long at that job. I ran into that issue some years ago.
