I have an exchange server and Outlook 2000 clients configured for "corporate/Workgroup" in the office. All my users have computers at home where Outlook is configured for "internet Only". We all create subfolders and rules to move messages around as they come in. When working remotely, I cannot get the messages that have been moved to different subfolders I have created. I have researched Offline folders and that only works with "Corporate/Workgroup configs. Does Outlook provide a solution to this problem or do I need to use .pst's instead of our mailboxes? Help.

Sure, Kim. Have everyone go to Tools-Services. If they don't have &quot;personal folders&quot; as a service, hit Add and get them personal folders on their C drives. Take all those folders you created at work under outlook today and drag them down under the personal folder. You can't get those messages now because the subfolders were created on the exchange server. Personal folders are, by default, stored on the hard drive. Just an FYI, though, they can also be stored on a personal network drive space... [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto:techsupportgirl@home.com>techsupportgirl@home.com</a><br><a href= </a><br> [/sig]

You mean I can have Outlook in the office use a .pst file instead of default mailbox, put it on the server and when Outlook opens it will find the .pst on the server?

If so, then when my user takes his laptop to jabip, should it be configured to use the same .pst file on the server in the office.

Where can I put the .pst so that Outlook can find it from a dial-up connection. Also I have a proxy server in front of everything.

Can you give me the specific steps?

Ouch. I wrote this once already and think I got you all wrong. They SHOULD be setup for the corp/wrkgrp and use Offline folders. When they get online, they should then be able to hit Tools-Sychronice offline folders and it'll synch the laptop (OST files) to the server.

PSTs won't help you 'cause if they don't have exchange server, you don't get the Tools-Services option and, hence, you can't create personal folders.

Make sure you check out their installs. I can never look at both at once! I've got Exchange at work and IMO at home.

Let me know, tho, if you can't figure it out. I've got an Outlook guru at work. [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto:techsupportgirl@home.com>techsupportgirl@home.com</a><br><a href= </a><br> [/sig]
