hi all

I am from an access background -
we are starting to user MS Visual Studio.net
with the query info being done in sql Query Analyser.

As I haven't used these before I set up a project in Access but am having probs.

Can someone point me to somewhere that will explain sql query analyser more for me - is this code only ?? or can I like in Access set up a query??

thanks

You may want to ask this questions in one of the Access forums.

Jewel,

I'm not sure what product or tool you are working with. The only Query Analyser I know is the one that comes with Microsoft SQL Server. If that's the one you mean, it should be present on your Start menu, if you have SQL Server client tools installed.

In any case, this is probably the wrong forum to ask this question. This forum is exclusively for VFP database and reporting issues.

Jewel,

The answer to your questions is yes, the SQL Query Analyzer is "code", you write SQL Selects, Inserts, Updates, and Deletes in the editor. There are some things you can do like dragging and dropping table names and column names from the treeview and scripting, but it does not have the "query designer" user interface you are use to in MS Access.

You can use Access to generate queries and the like against a SQL Server database and the newer versions work well to help manage MSDE based databases.
