I have a couple of AN routers with version 11.1 and 12.0 os. I was wondering if you can connect them back to back like you can Cisco routers to simulate a point to point WAN line.

And if you can, Where can I get the COM port cables to do it?

Thanks,

Hi,

You can do this, in the same way as cisco.
The cables can be purchased from any nortel partner, but its much cheaper to buy the parts and make them up yourself.

The installation and operation manual has the pinouts for the different cable types.

If you will be using T1's with CSU/DSU's on the ends there is another way to do this. If you connect your CSU's to the AN's, then run a T1 cross connect cable (1 to 5, 2 to 4) between them with one CSU generating timing, the other receiving, you should be able to bring up the 'circuit' between them. We do this with all of our point to point circuits in testing before customer prem install and works wondefully.
