Access Network Speed

I currently maintain an Access db on a fileserver. Most of the folks accessing it are regional and at satillite locations. Unfortunately, the more the database grows, the slower the response time. I've thought about data access pages over the intranet, but our firewalls and other security measures prevent it. Besides the amount of work I would have to go through to get it to that point. Would moving the db to a different server, or using Citrix help?
