Fellow programmers, survivors of H1B and Outsourcing, please try to give me an estimate of how long it would take to migrate an average size Access 97 MDB file to version 2000. I need to give enough time for testing etc. Monday I start, and there will later be dozens more to migrate. Just need a 'ballpark' for each on average. Thanks guys.

I would allow for at least a week. Access has a utility to upgrade older versions, but you still need to test any code and if you have security, you will need to test that as well. I think a week is cutting it short though.

The problem is that there is no such thing as an "average sized" Access database. I've written apps with almost no code in them and I've written apps with hundreds of pages of code in them. The best thing to do is just do one, telling your supervisor that you'll have to learn to estimate as you go. Your databases will be different from everyone else's. Just make sure you do, as you mentioned, take the time to test very thoroughly--as thoroughly as if it were a new database.
