Access MDE compatability

Can an Access MDE file created by Access2000 be opened successfully by higher versions of Access (i.e. Access2002/2003)?
Are there any special considerations to be observed when creating the MDE under Access2000?
Our users have a mix of 2000/2002/2003 and we are looking for the lowest common denominator for rolling out an MDE.
We don't want to have to have a version for each flavor of Access.

Don't know about 2003 but all previous versions of mde would only run under exactly the same version of Access as was used to create them.
