I have implemented a WAN solution using 3640 Router on main site with 1603s on remote sites - All sites are trusted domains, how can I configure the routers to stop bringing up the ISDN link when WINS replicates? I believe I can set an access list up to deny WINS NetBIOS traffic causing a dial up. Is this right? Any help would be appreciated.

Be very careful here.. WINS uses the same ports that your authentication for the PDC uses ( partially) You shut down WINS traffic and you will break your login to the PDC. I went through this for another reason and ran a sniffer trace to see exactly what happens durning login and WINS. It was enlighting to say the least.

I would first look at the replication partner schdule and the config. Do the remote sites make many changes on the LAN? more then likely not, so they should be pull and I might suggest pull for the primary site also. This limits the amount of traffic to whatever your schedule is.. not the changes. make sure the local sites workstations are set to node type H( hybrid)

By default WINS traffic is broadcast and should not be passed to the WAN unless you use something like ip helper command which forwards 10 specific UDP types of broadcasts to different subnet.

Check out this link at Cisco for good details about WINS and routers
