Access link to Excel

Hi:

I have an Access database that links to worksheets in various Excel workbooks.

All links work fine. Except there is one workbook that will not link unless the workbook is open.

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Is there by any chance a Password to Open or Password to Edit set on the spreadsheet ?

That will stop Access being able to open it.

Thanks for the reply. No password is set so that is not the problem.

I did a save as type "Microsoft Excel 97-2002 + 5.0/95 workbook".

Although I cannot explain, this did resolve the problem.
