we have a system that every night backups certain files to a folder on the server running Veritas 11D. the permissions on that folder allow EVERYONE full access. there are two files, both windows backup files (BKF).

I keep getting the following errors:
_________________________________________________
Backup- D: V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.
Access denied to directory
<
Unknown
>
.
Access is denied to Remote Agent. Check the login account for the specified device.

dont know why it refers to remote agent, when the file is on the veritas server itself. I checked and the files are copied to that folder hours before veritas even starts up.

for credentials I am using the System Logon Account, and every time I test credentials in Veritas I get the message:
"succesful - used server credentials".

everytime it tests fine like that, but every night the backup fails on that folder.

what am I missing?

Anytime a file is processed for backup the remote agent does the work, even on the media server.

Are you able to backup other files on this server?

yes. everything else is backed up.

just this one folder is giving me the issue.

in case I wasnt clear enough, every night windows backup runs on another server, backs up these two files to a shared folder on the server running Veritas 11d.

then hours later Veritas 11d runs, and fails to backup only these two files.

Can you back that folder up manually, i.e. not on a scheduled job?

BE will be accessing that folder using NTFS permissions, not SHARE permissions. Is beremote.exe running under an account that has NTFS perms to that folder?

yes, I can back it up manually.

currently the permissions for beremote.exe are system logon account, I will change that to another account with permissions for that folder and see what happens.

although currently the permissions are set for EVERYONE to have full access on that folder.

WHICH permissions are set to everyone? Share or NTFS? They're not the same thing...

Beremote should be fine running with system credentials.

Recreate the job. I just noticed in the error you posted
Access denied to directory <Unknown>
It doesn't know what directory you want, i.e. the job is hosed.

hate it when that happens.
:)

I will do that, and see what happens.
