Access hangs on opening

I have a mac book pro with xp. I have an access application that hangs when opening. Any ideas?

Are you referring to Microsoft Access?

I am thrown by the 'an' preceding the 'access application'.

The spreadsheet could be using macros, try enabling them; but only if your sure the data is from a safe source.
