I have a recently-migrated-to-SQL database that is still using Access as the front end (which will be changing at some point in the indefinite future, but will remain for now).
For the most part, everything has gone just peachy, but there is one minor and annoying hitch: The Access search function takes *forever* on fields of type char or varchar.
This is of particular annoyance when searching for phone numbers. I've read a bit about full-text indexing, but it looks like utilizing that would effectively require building some custom search functions.
Is there a way to speed up the built in search (ctrl+f) function? I'm willing to build my own process, but I would at least like a band-aid in the interim.
