Here is my problem, I am exporting a huge file from Access to Excel. It looks fine in Access but when it exports to Excel, a few columns get shifted but not in all rows. Anybody know of this problem and any remedies?

What do you mean "a few columns get shifted"? More than likely, you only need to hit ctrl-a, Format-Column-Autofit selection. Not sure, tho...

You didn't say if it's a report or a query or a table. If it's a report, then the following will apply.

You need to make all the formatting you want on the Access report itself. Basically, you're going to need to experiment with the formatting until you get it just the way you want when you export it.

Start by putting the fields in like this:

Field #1
Field #2
Field #3
Field #4

... instead of across. This seems to help it export better to Excel. Make sure each field's properties were set to "Grow" so that it will wrap in Excel. Even if you think it's too short, do it anyway so that you won't have to fix a longer entry.

I agree with Linda. Queries and tables usually export fine. Reports I have have found that if the fields are very close together in the detail section it would export ok, if not it would insert a blank column.
