as well as "unable to create report." I've searched for this before on google, but never came up with anything of use. This is in one of our computer labs, which get their profile from the domain, all pc's have user access only. PC's in question all have the same wizards installed, and same updates installed. As far as I know, they are identical in software installed and drivers and so on as they were created from a ghost image. However, some are unable to create a report, and either immediately pop up with a printer not found error, or go through the steps and at the end, gives the unable to create report error. Design view, autoreport, report wizard, doesn't seem to make a difference. I plan on diffing the registries, trying to find ptrace if I can for Windows, and diffing the system32 directory. But at the moment I can't as there is a class in there. Any other ideas, or run in to this before? We did have problems with forms and queries earlier when the instructor was going through the textbook, and it seemed once the first person did it, nothing else worked, which is odd as the database was local, and the printer was networked. But running the wizard install appeared to fix that problem. I also plan on running Office updates, but I'm not sure what good or harm any of this will do.

You didn't say if the PC in question had a default printer defined in Windows.

Oh, sorry. I knew I forgot something. :( That's a good question. I don't think so ... I'll check up on that. Thanks. :)

I did not have a printer under local administrator. I installed it, that didn't change anything. I set the user in question from user to power user. That didn't change anything. I set the user in question to administrators group, that didn't change anything. Then this was discovered.

1. Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
2. Right-click on the Printer, go to Properties, click on each tab, but don’t change anything. Click Okay to close the dialog
3. Right-click on the Printer again, this time go to Printer Preferences, and click Okay on that dialog without changing anything.
4. Open the Access database, and attempt to either edit or create a new report.
5. This problem appears to be related to Service Pack 2.

I cannot take credit for this fix, a student discovered this.

Those steps might be shortened a little bit, but that is what worked.
