I have office 2000 professional. I have installed server extensions. I am trying to figure out how to, or find documentation on how to set up a simple online database using Access and Frontpage. Do I need more than these apps to do this? I would like users to be able to query records and add records online through their brouser. Thanks

forum256 Will probably be able to help you much better...

Personaly, I use Visual Studio and develop in ASP.NET

I feel it's much easier a conversion for a person developing in access to move to asp.net then the original asp...

Just my thoughts...

Hi Chip38,

I have used both FrontPage and ASP.Net (in Visual Studio). I have found that FrontPage and Access work well together. You don't need anything beyond that unless you are getting very, very complicated. I am running several websites (within my company's intranet - behind a firewall) using IIS, and personal web server (I am running a Win2000 box). I built the websites in Frontpage and they tie directly into Access (using the frontpage wizards and custom code that I wrote). Here are a few links that I used that helped me to create the code: (I hope they help you too)

- great site! very helpful

And the list goes on and on....

I will be glad to help you with any questions/problems,

Access has it's own feature for creating web pages. It is under Reports on the side labelled "Pages". Although I have to say the functionality is very basic, and it can be quite cumbersome. It is very simple to use however.

Just a note if you do use that as an option; if you don't have a primary key field in the table the information is coming from then you might run into problems with making it a data entry page.

In saying all of that, if you can create the pages through something like FrontPage you will be much better off. Something I am trying to find the time to learn. At the moment I just use the Pages feature in Access.

Have fun!)
