I will be creating a switchboard with various departments reflected on each button.

I require for the user to enter a password when a button is clicked. The entry of the password should be show as *****.

I would also like to give the user the ability to change the password when necessary.

Thanks

Hi Kastaman!

The first question is easy, set the format for the textbox to password and nothing but astericks will appear. To allow the user to change the password set up a form with four textboxes. The first will be for the user name, the second for the existing password and the last two for the new password. You will verify the existing password, just like you do when they enter the password originally. If that verification works then check the last two boxes to make sure that the user entered the same thing in both boxes. If they did, just edit the table.

MS Access' security feature will give you all those options as well. You can assign users to groups and give them permissions to access specific forms and reports. Tools>Security>User Level Wizard will create the security. Tools>Security>User and Group Permissions allows you to assign a form or report to a particular department. You just have to make sure you also give them access to the underlying queries and tables as well. Make sure you test each group carefully. Users will be able to change their own passwords by going into User and Group Accounts.
