access format clarification

I have been building a mdb using access XP, however the file format is actually set to access 2000.

now I've run this from a access 2000 machine and things doesn't run properly...

so, does the fact that you've built the mdb with xp mean it's in xp format irrespective of what you've set the file format to be or is there something else that I'm missing?

Any error message ?
Anyway the file format is compatible with access 2000, not necessarly the code.
You may check the references:
when in VBE (Alt+F11) menu Tools -> References ...
and check tha the database compiles properly:
menu Debug -> Compile ...

Just thought of an aditional thing...

what about controls?

If I'm using XP to develop, but the file format is 2000. Then I include a Listbox on my form, does the listbox support all things Access XP or all things Access 2000?

I'm guessing/hopeing it'll be Access XP...

I don't know the answer to this one. I guess the only thing to do, is:

-- Look at the list of properties / methods for e.g. a List Box in Access 2003, and compare with Access 2000.
-- Create a test database, with a test form including a List Box, which uses an Access 2003-specific property.
-- Save this test database in Access 2000 file format
-- See what happens!
