Access file on novell from java application running on solaris

Dear Sir/Madam,

We have our file structures on Novell 4.11.
Now We need to access the files from a java application running over Solaris.

Can we use RMI Server on Novell to serve the file, so that we may put the rmi client code in our application.

Is there any compatibility issue between the RMI server running in Novell JVM & RMI Client running in SUN JVM for Solaris ???

Kindly help me out.
