I'm building a database in Access 2000, and I want one of the fields to be a time (24 hour clock, military time). My end result is going to be a form that an end user can enter start times, end times, length of time for breaks, and it will calculate the total time worked. In the past we've been recording times in hundredths (i.e., 7:30am is being logged as 7.50) and it gets confusing for the person entering the data.

I'm no Access expert, and the only thing I've seen while setting fields is making it a Date/Time field, which I don't think will work. Is there any way to make it strictly a time field based on a 24 hour clock? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

In your table design view, click on your Date/Time field and go down to the "General" properties of your field. Click in the "Format" field, click the drop down arrow to get a list of available formats, and select the "Short Time" option. I just tested it, and I was able to type in "5:30 PM" in the field, and it automatically changed it to "17:30"

Good Luck!

Brilliant! Just what I was looking for. Thanks!
