Access Error Message; Two users at once

I am getting this error message. The thing is, I am sure that there is only one user trying to open the program.

"The Microsoft Jet Database Engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

It comes up whenever I try to open the program.

You might find that an earlier problem caused the .ldb file to be left open. This can cause the thing to think that it is open by another user.

Ensure that all users are out of the database and then check that the databasename.ldb has been removed.

I can ensure that no one is in the file. The only problem is that this .ldb is still open. Is there any way to get rid of this and make sure that it doesn't hover around again after someone has exited the program???

Hi.

You can just delete the .ldb file (you won't be able to do this if there are any users still in the .mdb, so no danger there.)

As far as stopping it happening again, not so easy. You should first make sure that all your users exit from the application correctly. Provide a butto for them to use rather than using File > close or worse still the X button which can cause problems. The button you provide would maybe call a macro which will quit the application and save all.

One more quick thing...This file should be able to be used by more than one person at a time. What can I do to make it avaiable??

Make sure that it has a defauld open mode of Shared (in Tools > Options > Advanced.
