Have a CICS 6.1 with a CP100.

CallPilot picks up after 4 rings and goes through the whole CCR/AA thing.

I know that when you use the internal AA on the CICS 6.1, you can access the IRAD by dialing **RAD (or **IRAD - don't quite remember).

Is there a way to access the IRAD on the CICS via CP100, or would one have to install an external RAD on an unused port to access the system remotely?

Are you a vendor or end user ?
With the type of questions being asked then a qualified vendor to assist you or Nortel school to get you qualified should be in your future.

Installer/End User...Simple question...Don't need a vendor. Did not need it when I installed the system several months ago with no problems (and had it programed without a hitch), do not need one now.

I am going to gather that no, you can not route to I-RAD from CP100 (or any other external VM system), which is what my initial thought was from the start.

If you have the IRAD enabled on the cics you can have someone onsite do a feature 817 whish is trans to IRAD. Inorder to use the IRAD you need remote utllities to access the cics or the callpilot vmail ounce you are connected to the IRAD.

I have used the 817 feature plenty of times with no problems (also have the remote utils).

The only concern is when the business is closed. Since there will be no one to answer the phone and do a Feat 817, it does not help me much when I want to do some after hours changes.

We use the CP100's AA/CCR because it is much more functional than the AA/CCR on the CICS (we like the ability to set different greetings for different times, and have them take effect automatically), so going from the CP to the CICS onboard system is really not an option.

I was also considering going with a FastRAD. Can't find enough specs on it though. Does it just hook up to an empty station port, or does it also hook-up to a CO line?

I am thinking that if it requires a CO line with a station port, we could use port 117 of the I-ATA to directly access by dialing an extension since that port is unused.

I know it is a bit of a security risk, but since we are going to be opening a few more offices in different locations of the country, I need a good way to directly access the system remotely without having to tie up a line with DISA.

Thanks!

Both The IRAD and external rads function the same way. You either need a decated line on the rad to answer or use the feature 817. The external rad functions the same way as the IRAD. The FAST RAD needs a didtal port not an analog port to function.

You assign a line number like 001, 002, etc on the IRAD or the fast rad to answer that line after a certain amount of rings. That is why I say get a dedicated line for it this way you will be able to do after hours programming. Allow that dedicated line for rad use only.

DISA wil not work.

Thank you kgrant!

I had hoped I could get around the dedicated line issue, but it looks like I have no choice. I can live with that! :)

I've used the loop back from the IATA to an unused CO port. I found that it would make a connection fine, but never drop it. So I don't use that method. For remote non WAN access to both CP100 and CICS I suggest the following:

CP100 telnet for GUI access; and

Att a fastrad to a station port, put a stick on a line and program a port, connect the line to a CO port. Program the Fastrad to answer the line. In this config, you are able to dial in and access the CICS and the CP100 (set emulation). Your call will drop when over. If there is no spare CO port put an external Modem on the back of the fastrad, add the stick to a dialable line, and program a port on the Stick to go to the modem.
