outlook 2000 client setup with 2 user profiles. 1 profile was setup with a password to access the personal folders. Today no password was requested and it says access to outlook.pst is denied. does anyone know how to resolve this ?
Most versions of Outlook have a repair tool called 'Scanpst.exe'. Have you used this yet? A word of caution though, backup, backup, backup!!! As using the tool can wipe the file contents! hehehee,,
On my win98 box its in the Program menu under "Accessories | System Tools" and its called the "Inbox Repair Tool". I can't see it on my WinMe box menu's but it is on my hard drive.
If the Inbox repair tool finds a says the pst file is corrupt go here and follow the directions.
If you delete the personal folder component and add it back to the profile will you get prompted for a password again or does it immediately deny you access?
Started the repair utility and told me there were some problems on the disk that had to be repaired prior to running a scan on outlook.pst. I ran scan disk and repaired a couple of problems. Oddity is outlook.pst file no longer found on the desktop. Decided to delete and add personal folder with new password and then synched from palm. All data back on the desktop but not sure what happened to the *.pst file.
