Good Morning

This is two questions, hope you can help.

I am wanting to move a spreadsheet system to Access DB and need to know if somethings can be done before I do it.

1. If I have a table for each area to enter data (there are 5 areas) I can start with a menu form to select the correct area, can each area bepassword protected?

2. can the areas data be sent to an external email address at the end of each month automatically or by command button.

3. Can the data that has been send be added to and then forwarded on.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks

1. Yes - have a table with a list of areas, then have a password for that area against it. Get the user to select the area from a drop down list or click a button for it, then prompt for that password and verify it.

2. Provided the data can be easily accessed as through Access, you can have a button to email it off.
Automatically - its a bit more difficult as Access doesn't have any scheduling facilities built in. However, this can be overcome using an autoexec macro running through the windows scheduler.

3. It depends how the data is sent.
If you're using a snapshot report file (similar in idea to a PDF) then no, but if it is a CSV file, Excel worksheet or similar then it could be added to or amended.
Nothing is present to stop somebody who you send a file to to move one.
You could possibly get around this by using a SQL client/server backend and only have them login to access the data, or using the DRM facilities in Office 2007.

The simple answer is yes to all three, however it is dependent on your programming skills.
