Is it just me or is connecting to an Access database a real pain for other people as well ? Designing and building a solution is easy enough but i get so many run time problems from blob fields when trying to update or insert records ?

Does anyone else have this problem ? Has anyone had this problem and successfully figured out how to avoid the problems ? I have successfully written 1 database program that works without errors but it took absolutely ages to rid it of all manner of problems before it was free of "blob" errors...

Any thoughts ?

I must admit, I've never had to use Access. Just how are you trying to connect?

I connect using TTables, TQueries , TDatabase and TDataSources...

I usually do updates using a TTable and use Post() methods, all normal stuff...

Have you tried using the ADO stuff? It function very much like the T... components but is design for MS programs like Access and Sequel SQL.

Unfortunately I am on C++ Builder ver 5 professional, i think ADO comes in version 6..so no..

I can be done and it can be made to work.
It is not easy as it should be.

Hence the reason behind Borland going with ADO. BTW, ADO is available on BCB 5 but only in Developer version. I wonder if there are any free alternatives for Pro????
