Wonder if anyone can help here.

We are using Brightstore Arcserve 2000 to do our backups. They are currently being compressed to fit on the tape.
The problem we are having is that when we try and restore a Access database it restores at a fraction of the correct size.
The log on Arcserve says that it has restored correctly.

I have looked on the Computer Associates web site but the only thing that they mention is if you are backing up through the agent. Which we are not.

We have applied the latest service pack to Arcserve so everything is upto date.

If someone could shed any light on this problem It would be appreciated as this an urgent problem.

Does any data appear to be missing. If not it is most likely that "white space" in the database is not backed up, and therefore the restore is showing a smaller size.

We couldn't get into the database. It was saying that it wasn't a recongnised format.
The problem is now sorted. There is a patch on the Computer Associates web site that fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help though.

Can you specify the patch information? I've had similar problems restoring access db's. Thanks.

You need to put on Service Pack 4. File name:- QO19251.EXE
Then install the patch called:- QO19352.CAZ.

If you are using the agents then it might be an idea to use up to date agent from the patch:- QO19353.CAZ.

All the patches are available from the following link.
