I have a database with about 10 tables. I have field names that are coded and I have to have some method to have those codes to be displayed with a description. Ex. Everytime that a 1 pops up it should say what 1 means on a separate box. So I have created a separate tables with all the descriptions and added a relation ship to that field and it works fine. But the problem is that I have about 10-15 tables with descriptions and the more I add the more problems I have. Ex. When I run a report after I have added all the relationships my reports come out blank or queries, but if I remove some of the relationships, the database starts to work better and I actually get reports and queries. Is there any body that can help. If you don't understand what i am trying to do please let me know. Thanks for your help.

I'll be the first of many to point you towards the Access-specific forums here at Tek-Tips. That said, you may want to repost in one of them.

When you design a table, there's a comment field that, when you are in a textbox linked to that field, get's shown in the status bar. There's got to be a programmatic way to capture that property of the column and display it in an event the way you want (may want to try the Access Coding forum for VBA-specific help.

Also, search for forums related to 'access database' and you'll get several related forums. Visit them all and they will be added to your threadminder list here. Then read away, and use 'Advanced Search' and check 'My Forums Only' to search for answers to your Access related questions.

When I'm coding in Access, I always have a browser window opened to Tek-Tips. Haven't found a site to top it yet :)
