Access Database over Network

I have actually done a database over the network before, but now working with a company that uses SharePoint...which has no functionality to support such a program.

So, they want to do an FTP or the like, my question is after reading through some previous ones is:

Is it possible to create an Access Project with an Access backend?

We are all running Access 2003.

If not any suggestions so my users in the UK don't fall asleep waiting for the database to load?
