Help
Can anyone offer help on what causes a "String data, right truncated on column number 1[TABLE_CAT]" error to appear? It started happening out of the blue when my colleague attempted to retrieve data via MS Query from Access to Excel. He naturally assumed that it was something to do with a field length within one of the tables in the Access database but now he can't even link to empty MS databases without the error appearing!!! The error appears when he tries to create a new datasource, or if he tries to refresh a pivot table / data table that has already been established. Once the error / bug has occurred with one database, it propogates and 'pollutes' all other databases in the same directory....(regardless of size or modified date). If you copy a dbase out of the affected directory to a new directory, you can link to it without any problems, but the original folder is permanently tainted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
