When connected to any of the newer HP printers, Data does not display in Access report view(#NAME),although the report works fine on a pc not using the particular printer. This only happens in access. All other applications are fine. We are running win98. What could be causing this?

My hunch is that it's coincidental that this happens with the HP printers. The only time I've seen #NAME pop up unexpectedly in a form or report is when a field or control happens to have a name that matches a property name, such as Name or Height. It seems to be sporadic in these cases--sometimes it works fine, other times it doesn't.

If this is the case, the best solution is to change the field name, e.g. FullName, HeightInFeet. This means changing the field name in the underlying table or query, as well as the control name on the report. Changing it in a table could have repercussions throughout your database--not pleasant, but it's the only solution I know of.

If it really is somehow related to which printer you select for the report, I don't have a clue why that would be happening. Rick Sprague

Thanks, for your reply, but it really is related to the HP printers. I run the same report on another pc (we are networked)which has a hp laserjet 4) and it works fine. No missing data.

It may be related to the PCL6 driver (if you are using it). You can try either the PCL5e driver that ships with the newer HP printers which may still exhibit the problem. Or you can use the LaserJet 4 driver on the newer printers when printing your Access reports. You'll lose some functionality if it's a heavily optioned printer (ie: multiple trays, stapling, etc...) but the the LJ4 driver is the standard on which all the later HP's are built.
