I would like to access data from a WEB page by linking to it. The WEB page contains many records of 3 fields each. The WEB page is continously updated from job in an another DB. So, I would like to link to the WEB and have the latest information in my table.

I tried creating a MS Access Page using Edit WEB page that already exists and this works, but it will not pick up new information that the actual WEB page has. It created an Access htm file that I link to.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

So you have an Access database that populates a web page. You want a SECOND Access database to query the WEB PAGE and update the second database?

Is that what you're asking for?

Concepts - Data Access Pages(DAP) are web pages that reside outside of the Access file. They have an extension of .htm. They are not like forms. You do not use VBA to program them. You must use a language that the Internet Explorer environment knows such as JScript or VBScript.
Using the "Edit WEB page that already exists" will not achieve what you want. You're table must be BOUND (or be BINDED) to the DAP.
Same questions as above, are you saying that there is an Access database with DAP'S that you want to extract data from? This is not clear. Are you talking INTERnet or INTRAnet? If it's intranet, is that database and yours on the same network? Then you can just import the data table to table.
Please be clear and specific.

Lespaul and Fneily,

A slight misconception. My company has a large Unix/Oracle Data base. My DBA created the WEB page to show information. Like I said, it has many records of three fields of data each. I need to import that data/fields into my MS Access DB. I have been trying to work with the already created WEB page but, if need be, I can arrange something else.

So, I want to import data from the WEB page. I do NOT want to write to it.

I hope this clears up my issue.

Thankd,

Have you tried a WebQuery from within Excel ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

You could try scripting the web page. One example is Ruby/Watir. There probably is a Ruby class to write to an Access database with ODBC or ADO.

erm, if you guys already have a Unix/Oracle Data base then can't you talk to your dba to let you just pull the data off from the database?

I thank everyone for the help. I finally did have my DBA provide and output that I could link to. But....my question is still a valid question....I think Access should be able to access data from a WEB page, especially when that WEB page only containg records of information.

I consider this issue closed.

Again, thanks for the help.
