Access connection error

I have VS.Net 2003 Professional and I am trying to connect to an Access database.
projects. If I attempt to connect using Jet 4.0 under Server Explorer-Add Data Connection, I get an error 'Login
Failed. Catalog information cannot be retrieved'. The error message will not go away. I have to use ctrl alt del to end the program.

I have reinstalled VS.net, run Jet 4.0 sp, run MDAC 2.7 and it still gives the same error. I tried to create UDL file but the same thing happens.

I am using Windows XP Pro.

Everything works fine on a machine using Windows 2000

Any idea would be greatly appreciated
