We just recently upgraded to Access 2007 from acess 2003. We keep our databases to compact upon closing. Under 2003 when compacting it would create a temporary database, compact then blow the temporary database away. In 2007 it creates the temporary database, compacts the database but does not blow the temporary database away we have to do that manually. Any ideas on how we can set it so after compacting access automatically blows the temporary database away like the earlier versions did?

This is a bug in 2007. Goto Allen Browne's site to see all the problems, including this one, and solutions. I believe you have to apply SP1 and a hotfix:

Forgot to add, using the "Compact on Closing" is a very bad idea! As strange as it may seem, compacting can lead to data corruption. A secure backup copy of your file should always be made before doing a C & R.
