Access changed a Text field to numbers and I need help

I have been trying to fix this for days and cannot figure out what went wrong...someone please help.

I have access 2000. I have a list of report #'s, title, company, date. The company field has changed from text (ie: Walmart) to numbers. I cannot change it back and my file is thousands long.

Does anyone know how to change this back in design view. I am not sure what is wrong, it says it's text but yet it's still showing as numbers and I can't get it to go back.

Do you have a table of all unique companies with a primary key field that looks like a number?

Yes I do Duane,
The report starts with a number (ie: 24-12) followed by another set of numbers again (ie 34-76) the followed by the name of report.

I have no idea what your last reply means. From your first post, I assumed the values you were seeing in the company field had changed from what you expected to see. Now you seem to be posting about report number and a report name.

Please try to be a little more descriptive about your issues. Keep in mind that we can't see your application.
