I am need of help designing a DB for tracking inventory. What I need to collect. Is material used date, material used, quanity used, manufac. lot number and our lot number..thats it. do I just stick it all in one table...doesn't seem the right way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the tips and link, but I am still not understanding how I should set it up.

First identify your entities then identify the attributes of those entities. The entities will be tables and the attributes will be fields in those tables.

Have you searched the TT fora for 'Inventory Tracking Database'? (use the Google Tek Tips instead of the built in search function) There are several threads that go into detail regarding usage/shortages/sales/returns...

It mostly depends on what you are doing with the inventory tracking...using a BOM to create a new item based on existing items??

If you'd like more help, you'll have to give a much more detailed explanation of what you want to do with the database.
