Hello:

I am new to this specific forum, and really new to ASP, so please bear with me.

I have an Access database that has a table with literally hundreds of fields. All is well, apparently Access lets you do that.

However, I created a query that updates the table all at one time. To give you an idea of how large it is, the query is 62.5KB in size.

Anyway, when I try to run the query, I get an error from Access/ASP that there are too many fields. My question is: what is the total number of fields Access allows (perhaps this would have been better asked in an Access forum?). Or, is this a limitation of ASP?

Thanks for any help in advance,

Hi,
I'm not really sure there's a limit on the number of fields ASP should be able to update, what i really think might be the problem is the settings of your webserver like the server timeout settings. I could wish to see the portion of the code that opens the connection and the portion of the code that does update on the database with the specific error number cum message as it's displyed on the screen.

Goodluck

Actually, I found out there is a maximum number of fields that can be updated at one time; it is 40.

I found a bunch of info on it at Rather than just messing with Access, we decided to switch to SQL Server, which can handle just about anything anyone can throw at it.

Thanks,
