I am using Access 2007 but my webserver does not support this version yet so my DB is saved as a 2003 version and that's fine, my site is written in ASP....
I have a website where I maintain a database The database has 18607 records all articles, recipes and patterns from the Workbasket magazine, launched October 1935 and last issue 1996. These pages are written in ASP (the index and frames are html).
I am NOT a programmer, I do not understand (can’t wrap my head around syntax and do not have the tools to know how to speak the language and I get toooo frustrated trying to figure out what is what). BUT I HAVE THE DRIVE AND DETERMINATION TO LEARN!! A coworker helped me with a work database and I have been able to migrate the information over to my personal database. The problem is, he does not know yet… how to create a Boolean type search…..
If you try the website, you will see that you can search for one word only, so if I search for “doily” I get all patterns whether knit, tatting, crochet…. But if I want to find all of the tatted doily patterns I can’t. We had it set up with a category drop down, so you pick a category from a drop down menu and THEN type in your one word search criteria but I don’t want to have to use that. AND ‘we’ have gained knowledge as we’ve each worked on databases/asp to the point that my original drop down menu page has changed drastically enough it warranted a new page…. And I don’t know how to incorporate the drop down menu in the new one. (the dim information and what not that has to be added).
SO…. Does anyone know what I need to do to research this.... what questions do I need to ask or am I asking properly now, and am just an idiot. Where can I obtain the tools to learn this or to program such a search or where I can look for a 101 tutorial on how to do this?
I can’t even find some sort of online generator for this stuff, and if I did, would not know how to incorporate it without step 1. 2. 3. instructions. Nor do I know what to search for…. Do I look for “how do I create” or “how do I write” or whatever… a BOOLEAN search? Or is there some sort of javascript that can do this?
Seriously, any ideas? Does Google offer some sort of free search tool and if so, is it a site search or can you have it look for key words in a database?

THANKS! (BTW, we have been working from home, me and my coworker as our offices are under construction so we have not seen each other in a couple of weeks and won’t be for a couple more I suspect…. And he said he didn’t know how to do this and would have to research and we’d get together on it when we got back in the office. I don’t even know what I need to search for to get the help….. and I’m antsy as all get out because I just recently (2 days ago) completed the data entry on my database and its up and running… I WANT TO ENHANCE in the worst way.)
I'm not asking anyone to 'do it for me' just guide me... and if I need help on how to request what I'm seeking and you get it, please feel free to offer suggestions.
