I have an access database and some MS word letters contained in a directory. The MS Word letters rely on information from the Acces database for mail merging. All this works until the directory is moved to another directory or computer when the links beween the database and the letters have to be renewed. I would like to be able to distribute this directory around without re-establishing links i.e. make the links relative to the directory and not absolute the position of the directory.

Hi

Not sure that you can have relative directory path, but you could have a table to hold the directory path as a column, and then in code refresh the mailmerge paramters to piont to the relevenat difrectory, using the value of the path from the table

Looks like a good idea once I get up to speed with the coding.

Thanks

I am merging an Access qry with a word document. This works OK however I would like one of the fields to appear on the document as information for the user but not appear on the printout. Is there a way of doing this?

I discovered that the word documents ahd retained their ability to find the Access data despite being moved to another machine - so it was a realtive path
