I am using an Access front-end to access a SQL server. I have been informed by the maintainers of the SQL database that some of the processes being run are 'locking-up' or not being 'shut-down' properly. This has caused errors at their end on a couple of occasions.

I have tried running a ODBC 'trace' and ended up with a log file of 20Mb after not much activity. It is impossible to read all this file. The only clue I may have is a message saying 'msconfig.sys cannot be found'.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

How are you opening the SQL tables using VBA code or just ODBC links

make sure you close them if you are using VBA

set rst = nothing
set conn = nothing DougP, MCP

I am opening the tables using ODBC links. Don't these need to be closed?

Leon.
