We are using CE10 and we have a bunch of folders with lot's of reports in each. Now, I have a user who should be getting access to all these folders. How can i check if he has access to all the folders and if not how can i give permissions to this user to access them?

Thanks for any inputs,

To simplify your overall admin, add users to groups, and give the groups rights to the folders.

Within the folders you can add/remove rights, and specifically check the group.

Now whenever you add in a user or need to change them, just alter which group(s) they are a part of.

Otherwise you have to go into the folders and specifically select each folder and add the user.

Thanks synapsevampire, I just found that's what we are currently doing. We have users added to a group called "Power users" group and this group could be able to access all the folders and all the reprots in each folder. I was wondering if there is a way to say, give this group access to ALL Folders instead of going to each folder and add this group to folder.

Unfortunately, I think not.

I seem to recall that groups had to be added to them individually, that's why the design should be that when you CREATE your folders, you add the groups.

If you've been doing this, why wasn't the power user group added at the time of folder creation?

Anyway, you might use an APOS tool for this, or perhaps someone else has a means.

Thanks. Actually it was assigned to all folders when any folder was created. But for some reason one user could not see all folders and has some buttons disabled. So we thought of reassigning poweruser group to all folders again.

Looks like i have to go adding this group for each folder.

Thanks for your inputs. Appreciate all your help.

Could you set the access for the "Power Users" group at the server level ? From what I remember of CE10 if you logon to the CMC and then click on Settings there is a "Rights" tab. Here you can define the rights the groups have which can then be inherited by the folders. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

You can check the rights using one of the tools that is available in "Crystal Enterprise Admin Launchpad" page. The tool name is "Object Rights Table". With this tool, you can check which user/group has what rights for each report/and folder. This will help you to narrow down report access issue.
