We have developed a runtime piece in ACCESS97---it is split into a front-end and back-end, and has a workgroup. Back-end and workgroup are on a server. User has current Zenworks and NOVELL 4.1. Problem is: one user gets on---another takes forever to get on. All permissions are set on the server--write, read, modify, erase. Recordlocks set very high at 10,000. Still very slow. Oddly if 10 applications are launched from a single machine the get it just fine. We are totally stumped....

Have you checked how many groups the users are members of and how many times Novell NDS has to go through to check the user's final permissions to access the database?

Just a thought!

Try also checking the opportunistic locking in the registry settings, see microsoft knowledgebase, the workstation os may need this setting correctly for performance on Novell.
