Access 97 to 2003 query problem

I have a database created in access 97. I have a Acess 2003 user who is having difficulties.

I have a query that has a criteria that is not working. The criteria is like forms!frmSwitchboard!frmMain!temp1

Temp1 does have a value in it but yet the query returns no records. Help!

Try this:
Forms!frmSwitchboard!frmMain.Form!temp1
