Can anyone please advise? I have a linked table within Access 97 front end. This file has some personal data on which I need users to have access for certain fields but I dont want them to be able to open the table. I've tried and few things but with no luck.

Thanks in advance

Vince

you might have better luck in an Access specific forum:

here's a few, there are a couple more (forms, VBA)

Instead of letting them see the table do a querry and let them see just the fields they need to see.

Beetle,
Use an OwnerAccess query--this way the table can have NO permissions whatsoever for the current user, but the query, which has just the fields you want, can have the permissions of the owner of the table--a user with all rights.

Then, if you just want them to read data, set the security on the query itself for read only--it'll use the OwnerAccess property to override the fact that the user has no rights on the table, but the query won't allow him to update.
