Access 97 Numbers

Hi,

I have what appears to be a very simple yet extremely annoying problem: I am developing an application in MS Access 97 and I can't enter decimal values in numeric fields. And yes, I have changed all the formats that would allow me to do this. Here is the clincher: if I open my database on a different computer it does allow me to enter decimal values, so I think the problem is specific to the Access installed on my computer (regional settings checked, Access options checked, tried shutting it down, hitting it....nothing works).

If you have any idea what the hell is wrong, please give me a hint,

Isn't there a windows setting which determines number of decimal places, could that be the problem?

Do you mean you've changed Format properties expecting that it make a difference? It won't. Format only controls how things are displayed, not how they are stored.

The fractional digits entered into a table field (or a control bound to one) will only be stored if the Field Type is Currency, or if the Field Type is Number and the Field Size is Single, Double, or Decimal.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but you referred to the "formats" and people often make the mistake of thinking this has something to do with the value stored.

Yeah, I know my wording wasn't too clear. It's both number and single.

But I have just changed the regional settings to US (default is Dutch) and then the problem doesn't occur on my computer so I guess the problem might be somewhere else entirely.
