I need to incorporate a long text string (potentially longer than the maximum string-size for a form text box) into a report header - and because the database is being used in a read-only (on CD) environment I can't just write to a memo field and refer to that in the report.

Is there some way I can pass a variable to/make a field reference within/ a report that will avoid problems with text-box size limits?

Not sure about this but I have been using a text box on a report with the can grow set to yes. It looks like it can take quite alot of text. How many char are you trying to fit.

Its potentially a LOT of text, as it stores concatenated details of what a user has selected in a previous form. Certainly >255 chrs.

Now, I'm experimenting with having the report text box refer to a function - this works, but still runs into an odd error when the string gets too long. And as the function has no particular limit to var size, I'm beginning to think that the problem is with the Report text box, not with the text box referred to - it could comfortably hold memo fields if bound, but is there perhaps a limit as to what unbound fields can hold? Any ideas?
