Monday @ 5:00pm someone tried to enter a ticket into our helpdesk database and it said it couldnt append the record and the user couldnt do anything so he got out of the db and when anyone goes into it it gives the name of the db and says not a valid index in the table????? It wont open it and you cant import any tables or repair or compact it. We used a backup from last friday and on tuesday @ 3:00pm it crashed and says its damaged and cant be repaired????? Some one help. I am losing days of information when this is Mission Critical Stuff. Thanx in advance - nufather

Sometimes you can get around this by rebuilding certain system tables that are created when you import objects. Create a new (empty) database and use the File/Import function (check "select all" on each tab) to get all the objects in your original/backup database.
Immediately compact the database. If you don't compact regularly (nightly or weekly) corruption tends to happen more frequently. With a 15 mb database I never had corruption ONCE after I began compacting weekly. In certain cases MS advises you compact twice so I do that as a matter of routine. I think I saw something saying that Access 2000 compacts everytime the last user closes the database.
